COVID-19 Latest Updates

INDOOR VISITATION - SKILLED NURSING UPDATE 3/22/22

With recent changes to the state's guidance regarding visitation in long term care settings, we are pleased to announce that we are now open for visitation for all residents in nursing at all times without the need to schedule your visit in advance. This guidance is a huge step towards getting back to pre-pandemic visitation practices, however the facility is still responsible for maintaining the core principles of COVID-19 infection prevention. To maintain these principles, we are asking all visitors for nursing residents to enter through the C-hall entrance on the north side of the Health Care Center. Everyone entering the facility will be screened at the door, must wear a face mask, and must socially distance from other visitors staff and residents, and remain in the room until they are ready to leave. We are asking visitors to use the call light in the room to alert staff if anything is needed during their visit or when they are ready to leave. Visitors who have symptoms, have a positive viral test, or currently meet the criteria for quarantine should not enter the facility until they meet the criteria used for residents to discontinue transmission-based precautions. In most cases the visits can occur in the resident's room, however there are some instances where we will need to have the visit take place elsewhere as determined by the resident or their roommate's clinical condition(s). We are excited to be able to welcome you all back in the building and look forward to seeing you. If you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call. Thank you.

INDOOR VISITATION - ASSISTED LIVING / SKILLED NURSING UPDATE 3/22/21

Either the visitor or the resident must be fully vaccinated to participate in indoor visits. **Fully vaccinated means 2 weeks after final dose.

It is a violation of the Governor's proclamation for an unvaccinated visitor to visit an unvaccinated resident.

You are now able to schedule an indoor visit for your loved one.  Prior to, and during your visit, you are expected to follow these precautions in order to mitigate exposure risk for you and the residents which also allows us to adhere to all CDC, CMS, local and state DOH guidance.  Visitors must be 12 years of age or older with an accompanying adult if under the age of 18, and no more than 2 visitors allowed at a time.   Pets are NOT allowed during indoor visits at this time.

  • An "Indoor Visitation and Attestation" form must be acknowledged and signed for each visitor present at time of visit.
  • Indoor visitation is allowable for residents who are NOT on quarantine or transmission-based precautions
  • Residents in quarantine will NOT be able to have in-person visits until after transmission-based precautions have been lifted.
  • Visitors are not required to be vaccinated or tested prior to visitation.  Resident’s vaccination status will be confirmed and will determine what level of precautions to take during the visit.  However, an unvaccinated resident should not have an indoor visit with an unvaccinated visitor.

Prior to visit:

  • Visitors should communicate the need to cancel due to an exposure, being a close contact of a confirmed or probable case or having a pending test result for COVID-19.  If you notice symptoms prior to visit, please do not come to facility.
  • Visitors who have traveled out of Washington state in the last 14 days should not enter the building and should not visit until after 14 days since entering Washington.
  • Please use restrooms prior to your visit as no restrooms will be available to you.

Before Visit:

  • All visitors are screened for symptoms of COVID-19 and your temperature is taken.  Anyone that is symptomatic or has a fever >99.0 will not be able to visit.
  • Visitors and residents must wear a mask at all times and must use hand sanitizer before and after the visit.

During Visit:

  • All visits are supervised by a WBSC staff member.  Please follow any direction or instructions given by the visit supervisor.
  • You will be assigned a designated room for your visit.  Please stay in this area until the visit is over.
  • All visitors and residents must be able to wear a well-fitting mask throughout their visit.
  • Please refrain from touching your face, nose, or mouth during your visit.
  • All visits are limited to 45 minutes and scheduled on the hour.  This extra time allows the visit supervisor time to disinfect the seating areas prior to the next visit.

Un-vaccinated residents:

  • The Visitor(s) must be fully vaccinated for an indoor visit.
  • Visits will be conducted while maintaining social distancing with a plexiglass barrier between the resident and the visitor(s)
  • No physical contact will be allowed

Vaccinated Residents (>2 weeks since final dose):

  • While maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet is the safest approach, visits may be conducted without the use of the plexiglass barrier if the resident chooses

Physical contact (hand holding, hugs, etc) can be made if the resident chooses so long as both the resident and visitor(s) wear a well-fitted mask and use hand hygiene before and after their visit.

All visits are subject to change or cancellation at the discretion of the facility.

THANKSGIVING / HOLIDAYS UPDATE 11/21/20 – Warm Beach Senior Community is committed to protecting the health and safety of our residents at all times and especially during the challenges presented by the current increased spread of COVID-19. We understand the emotional impact that separation from loved ones has caused.

Our visitation policy in effect for Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Residents remain the same as outlined in the 08/13/20 Update.

The following guidance is specifically related to our residents in the Independent Living Community:

We know that some independent residents may want to leave their home temporarily to visit family and friends for the holidays or other outings. While WBSC supports family engagement and an independent resident’s right to leave the community, everyone needs to work together to take extra precautions to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, WBSC strongly recommends against independent residents leaving the campus during these times.

Any independent resident who chooses to leave campus for holiday or other gatherings will be expected to disclose such travel to WBSC staff and to SELF QUARANTINE 14 DAYS UPON RETURNING. This guidance is provided to assure the protection of all residents within the community.

With the potential for a safe and effective vaccine on the immediate horizon, extra precautions we can take now are essential to protect our residents until a vaccine becomes available.

Washington State Safe Start for Long-Term Care Facilities:

The state has adopted a phased approach to the normalization of visitation for long-term care facilities within Washington. Presently we are in Phase 1 of the four defined phases based on current virus data for Snohomish County. As of this date, the case rate in the county is 81.3 cases/100,000

Warm Beach Healthcare Center will utilize COVID 19 Risk Assessment Dashboard to determine the county metric and Safe Start Phase

  • Phase 1       >75 cases/100,000 population for two weeks.
  • Phase 2       25-75 cases/100,000 population for two weeks.
  • Phase 3       10-25 cases/ 100,000 population for two weeks
  • Phase 4       < 10 cases/100,000 population for two weeks.

In order to transition beyond Phase 1 all of the following criteria must be met:

  • 28 days have passed since the last positive or suspected resident/client or staff case was identified in the facility OR any timeline required by the Local Health Jurisdiction (LHJ), whichever is greater;
  • Adequate staffing levels are in place;
  • The facility performs and maintains an inventory of PPE to assure at least a 14-day supply;
  • The facility performs and maintains an inventory of disinfection and cleaning supplies for residents and clients;
  • There is assurance by the LHJ that local hospital(s) have the capacity to accept referrals/transfers;
  • The facility is capable of cohorting residents with dedicated staff in the case of suspected or positive cases OR is able to transfer positive cases to a COVID-19 positive facility for care and recovery OR in the case of small facilities, there is a plan in place for managing both positive and negative cases while mitigating the spread of infection

UPDATE 03/14/20:  Effective immediately all visitation to Warm Beach Healthcare Center and Cedar Court has been cancelled.

While we understand this will be burdensome for family and loved ones, we have instituted these restrictions in full compliance with a Federal Government directive from CMS issued March 13, 2020. As always, our primary concern is for the health and safety of our residents.

The directive includes a Compassionate Care exclusion which specifically applies to any resident facing an end-of-life situation. In the event you believe this exclusion may apply to your situation, please phone the Healthcare Center in advance to discuss scheduling and logistics of your visit.

Thank you for joining with us to keep our residents safe from harm.

COVID-19 News: We at WBSC stand with all of our sister healthcare providers during this Coronavirus challenge.  For those affected in the community at large, please know that our hearts and prayers are with you as we move through this together.
