Gold Medal Challenge!
— Saturday, October 17th, 2009 by WBSC
On February 12, 2010 the Winter Olympics begin in Vancouver Canada. Folks from around the world will come to British Colmbia to enjoy the games. They will be trying to keep warm in Vancouver's cold climate. The British Columbia Conference of Seventh-Day Adventist will be offering 10,000 of these visitors a free winter scarf. Between now and the games their goal is to collect scarves made by the hands of Christian knitters and crotchetiers across North America.
Rosetta Markovic, from Cedar Court has taken up the challenge and is busy knitting scarves. She is going strong. The scarves are six feet long and six inches wide. They are knit in a ribbing pattern with an inset square to apply the "More Than Gold" snowflake. Each scarf will include the "More Than Gold" snowflake that tells the story of salvation with its five colors. The five colors coincide with the Olympic ring colors.
Purple: The darkness of sin
Blue: The home we find in God's love
Green: The new life we experience in Jesus
Red: The blood of Jesus on the cross
Gold: The promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ
Rosetta is completing her scarves in cherry red; however, there is an additional pattern for a scarf in black with the five colors in rows at the end of the scarf. If you would like more information don't hesitate to contact Rosetta or send her a note of encouragement as she knits away. These scarves will demonstrate the warmth of Jesus' love.
