History of Warm Beach
Senior Community

In the late 1950s, Free Methodist leaders began praying and dreaming of a senior community where retired missionaries, pastors and others could live together and support each other. These founders procured a plot of wooded land five miles south of Stanwood, Washington, adjacent to what is now Warm Beach Camp.

On May 1, 1967, the Manor Apartments opened, funded by a low-interest HUD loan. The community grew and marked new milestones:

  • 1975: Warm Beach Health Care Center was added, with nursing and boarding wings.
  • 1976-1980: 55 Village apartments were built
  • 1980: Beachwood apartments, with a community room, were finished
  • 1980: Manor Estates, a 48-site manufactured home park, was completed
  • 1997: Cedar Court, an assisted living facility, opened

Today Warm Beach Senior Community continues the original ministry of serving retired Christian leaders. In addition, the community welcomes all seniors regardless of race, creed, religion or nationality. Future plans include the building of SoundView, a new neighborhood with single-level homes and apartments.
