Friday Night Film

Friday Night Film on August 29 at 6:30 p.m. in Beachwood Lounge features Jane Eyre (1997). Charlotte Bronte’s moving story of the improbable love between a young governess and her mysterious and tragic employer is one of the towering classics of English literature. 108 minutes.

Christian Advocates

Christian Advocates on Tuesday, September 2 at 8:00 a.m. begins with a men’s breakfast in Beachwood Lounge. At 8:40 a.m. the program features Leslie Collings from Port Susan Farmers Market talking about how the Market got started, who’s involved and what it means to the community. All are invited for the program.

Warm Beach resident Sammy Low

Warm Beach resident Sammy Low will be sharing with the community all about his Irish drum on Wednesday, September 3 and again on September 10, each at 10:00 a.m. in Beachwood Lounge. We heard him play the drum, called a bodran (pronounced “bow-ran”), at the resident picnic. Many commented about the unique and interesting sounds this drum made. Sammy will show a video (about 1 hour) all about the drum, and the next week bring several drums so you can experiment.

The Encouragers Group

The Encouragers Group in Manor Estates is opening-up an exciting program to our whole community. It will be held Thursday, September 4 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hutchinson’s home (MHP-1, the first home on the right as you enter Manor Estates). Louise Close, a wonderful teacher in the Episcopal Church, will be speaking about the history and use of the first Book of Common Prayer, which is the historical roots of many Protestant traditions. You will learn a lot about your own church and faith as well as the Methodist-Episcopal-Anglican traditions which were passed down to us. Please sign-up so Hutchinsons know how many to expect. Announcing the first Warm Beach Fellowship Meeting

Announcing the first Warm Beach Fellowship meeting of the new season: Monday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. in Beachwood Lounge. The program will feature Jim Youngsman, showing us how to make a fall flower arrangement. We’ll have tasty refreshments and a door prize!

You are invited to tour the Warm Beach Kitchen

You are invited to tour the Warm Beach Kitchen on Wednesday, August 27th at 10:30 a.m.  Food Service Director Matt and Chef Robert will guide groups of no more that 8 on approximately 45 minute tours. You will start with a brief talk and refreshments in the Garden Room followed by a tour through the food prep areas and more. You’ll see how the one kitchen services all sections and facets of our overall operation. Be prepared with non-skid shoes, and ready to wear a hair net. You must be able to stand for 30 minutes and to ambulate fairly well without a walker or wheelchair, as we don’t want to create a hazard in the areas where food prep is being done. Please sign-up at the Volunteer Program center, which is open for summer hours Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Brain Fitness Class

Every Tuesday and Thursday / 10:30 a.m.

Just like your body, your brain needs exercise! Brain Fitness is a class taking place in the Activities Room. This 30 minute class focuses on fun way to challenge your short term and long tern memory, auditory comprehension, written comprehension, problem solving, abstract reasoning, organizational skills and more.

The local farmers market is a place where the community gathers together. Organizers are promising mounds of vibrant vegetables from the garden, fruit right off the bush, and other melt-in-your-mouth delicacies like locally-made cheese and fresh baked bread. There will also be local artists, crafters and entertainers. The market is located next to Viking Village.

Wii Bowling League
Every Tuesday / 7:00 p.m.

Meets in Beachwood Lounge.  We would like to put together 2 teams of 4 bowlers each to compete against teams from the surrounding communities.

Ladies Bible Study
